Speaker Highlight: Grace Bills

posted on September 30, 2024 by Emilie Lashmar

Grace Bills, the Head of New Location Partnerships at Plus X Innovation, brings a wealth of experience from her diverse background. Having transitioned from the education sector into coworking in 2021, Grace has been instrumental in leading the company’s grant funding efforts and fostering new partnerships ever since.

In this interview, Grace shares her insights into the ever-evolving coworking landscape, the delicate balance between short-term funding and long-term growth, and what she’s most excited about for GCUC London this year.

How did you get into coworking?

After years working in the education sector with grants and funding, I joined Plus X Innovation to lead their grant funding applications to help our members and businesses get the support they need to grow.

What factors attract investors to coworking, and how can operators balance short-term funding with long-term growth?

The workspace sector has experienced remarkable growth, driven by an increasing demand for flexible work models. This evolution has undoubtedly attracted significant interest from investors but there still remains a disconnect in how the value is assessed. Given the flexible nature of coworking, tensions can arise between the need for short-term funding and the focus on long-term growth. As operators, we must carefully navigate this balance to ensure sustainable success.
